Fall, Autumn, Pumpkin Spice

Fall, Autumn, Pumpkin Spice

The autumnal equinox, or first day of fall is September 23 this year, at precisely 3:50 in the morning. So why on earth is it that all things fall come out so darn early? I know that its all about marketing and getting products in your face before you have a chance to think about spending your money on other things. But come on it’s still reaching 90° outside here in South Carolina! Our leaves are hanging tightly onto the trees, and we have seen pumpkin spice this and that on the store shelves for at least a month now. Is it just me, or is it crazy that they came out before Labor Day, unofficially ending summer?

Creamers, donuts, coffee, ice cream are all on my list of likely items to indulge in. I am not opposed to pumpkin spice in some forms, but have you seen some of the obscure products that are the crazed flavor? There are some things that SHOULD NOT be included when trying to work your way into this seasonal fad group. SPAM is definately on the top of that list for me, along with pumpkin spice flavored toothpaste and deodorant. Really?!

As for us at The Bo, you will see pumpkin desserts beginning the week of September 23rd, when it is officially fall. Until then, enjoy the last couple of weeks of summer with our fruit forward cakes, pies and tarts. Because, once autumn is upon us you can be sure that there are going to be several new mouth watering cakes gracing the dessert case. Hopefully some cooler weather will come our way too, fingers crossed!
